Data can be a powerful tool for educators. When used properly data helps to tailor learning, track student progress, and keep students on track in their learning journey. However, in order to fulfill this mission data must be stored in a way that keeps it secure while being easily accessible and organized. That’s why it’s critical that data be transferred to enterprise data warehouses (EDWs) where it can be utilized to its full potential and improve learning outcomes as well as research in higher education.
Because EDWs convert data into a consistent format, even when the data is derived from multiple sources, this leads to enhanced quality and consistency. According to the Data Warehouse Information Center, “By having access to information from various sources from a single platform, decision makers [in education] will no longer need to rely on limited data or their instinct.”
To provide intelligence and analytics using a EDW, industry leaders ServiceNow and Perspectium joined forces. “Our goal, [by integrating Perspectium], was to integrate data to our EDW for cross-functional and advanced analytics purposes,” explained Venugopal Malyala, senior director of BI, MDM and Analytics for ServiceNow in a webinar. “We have deployed multiple ServiceNow instances for various internal use cases and we are able to bring all this data into one single platform.”
Where traditional databases are ill-equipped to support IT infrastructure advancement and innovation, EDWs support business goals in the education sector through enhanced quality and consistency helping educators make learning more personalized while tracking student process and enhancing the student journey.
